AFROTC Det 020 Class Sign-Up Guide

Participation in AFROTC requires cadets to take additional classes alongside their base schedule outlined by their major. Traditionally, all cadets, regardless of their class, must take MLA 110/MLA 310: Physical Training and Leadership Laboratory (LLAB) every semester.

Each specific class builds on one another while cadets advance through the program, teaching different but related fundamentals in each that are imperative to ensuring success as an officer and a leader. Feel free to refer to the chart below to see what classes you are required to take in relation to your class and level of progress through the AFROTC program.

AFROTC Course Chart

NOTE: University of Arizona students cannot dual enroll in AFROTC classes via the UAccess Student portal. A course conflict with the leadership laboratory will prevent adding two MLA courses in the same semester. Contact the Recruiting Officer if you are dual enrolling in courses. Be sure to include your student ID number and the course name/time you would like to add. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once your classes are added to your schedule.

3 and 5-Year Programs

3 and 5-year cadets follow a different schedule than 4-year students. Those in the 3-year program duration must double up on classes their first year. During their first year, 3-year cadets, referred to as AS250s, will have to take MLA 100A and MLA 200A alongside Leadership Laboratory and Physical Training during the Fall Semester of their first year. Additionally, AS250s will take MLA 100B and MLA 200B alongside the normal AFROTC classes during the Spring Semester of their first year. After their first year, AS250s will need the same classes as AS300 and AS400 peers.

5-year cadets, referred to as AS800s during their final year, will have the same schedule as cadets in the 4-year program duration, except they will not be required to take any specific classes during their 5th year. Unless directed otherwise, AS800s only need to take Leadership Laboratory and Physical Training (PT) during their final year.

NOTE: Only Secretary of the Air Force-Approved 5-Year Majors can enroll in a 5-year plan.

A 3.5-year program duration is also available to students pursuing a 4-year degree but opting to join AFROTC during their Freshman year's Spring Semester rather than the traditional Fall semester. 3.5-year cadets, called AS150s, take the same classes as their AS100 contemporaries except MLA 100A, which they will take during the Fall Semester of their second or sophomore year.
